DELRAY BEACH, FL – World No. 20 Sam Querrey has accepted a wild card to play in the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships (ITC) next month. The ITC gets underway February 22 and runs through March 3 at the Delray Beach Stadium and includes both ATP Champions Tour and ATP World Tour events.
Querrey, the No. 2-ranked American, will be making his fifth appearance in the ITC. He reached the semifinals in 2008 and has a 4-2 mark in the event. The 25-year-old Querrey is out to a 4-2 record to start the 2013 season, reaching the semifinal in Auckland in his season-opening tournament earlier this month. Following Davis Cup action this weekend, Querrey will play in tournaments in San Jose and Memphis in the weeks leading up to Delray Beach.
The addition of Querrey gives the ITC the top four-ranked Americans: John Isner (No. 16), Mardy Fish (No. 31) and Ryan Harrison (No. 57) are also in the Delray Beach field. The world No. 1 Bryan Brothers will be the top seed in the doubles draw.
Other top players in the Delray Beach field include Gael Monfils, who is returning to the Tour from a knee injury, Marin Cilic (No. 13), Kei Nishikori (No. 21), Tommy Haas (No. 22), Alexandr Doglopolov (No. 23) and defending champion Kevin Anderson (No. 29). Tournament director Mark Baron has a pair of wild cards remaining to fill the 32-player ATP World Tour draw.[spacer size=”5″]
