Delray Beach, FL (January 17, 2008) - Weeks before the crowds come to town to see some of the greatest male tennis players in the world February 9 – 17 at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships, twelve girls aptly named the Delray Beach ITC “VolleyGirls” were introduced at a special Tennis and Fashion event at Martier Boutique on Thursday, January 17.
The VolleyGirls are the popular entourage which promotes the international tournament to the local community. The VolleyGirls are the 12- member entourage of ladies specifically chosen to promote, build hype, inspire and to enjoy everything that is the Delray Beach ITC. Hailing from Yugoslavia, Russia, Romania, Germany, Jamaica and USA and range in age from 21 to 31… truly fitting for an international tennis championship. Acting as ambassadors of their countries and cultural backgrounds, these Girls are also emblematic of the colorfully diversified nature of the Delray Beach ITC, showcasing tennis as being far more than a ‘sport’.
For the launch the Girls hair and makeup was expertly styled by SpaEleven, the distinctively hip and luxurious spa escape which delivers personalized bliss in a hypnotically captivating environment, located at 1440 North Federal Highway in Delray Beach. The fashions were hand picked by the creative director and designer stylist for Martier, Aldrick Bradley. Martier, with shops in NYC, Miami Beach, Boca Raton, and Delray Beach, carries a myriad of chic European clothing lines and is conveniently located at 411 East Atlantic Avenue.
“When we started the VolleyGirl campaign last year, we thought it would be popular, but never realized the extent to which these girls became the iconic figures of the event they did,” said John Butler, Executive Director of the Delray Beach ITC. “Now they’ve received national recognition, endorsement deals with incredible fashion boutiques and make-up lines…It’s all just exploded in such a fantastic way. They’ve become an ideal representation of the event.”
The VolleyGirls will attend a variety of area events including live college radio talk shows and other exciting ITC events leading up to the tournament. On-site during the week, the girls are the life of the party at sponsor functions, special events, on the Beck’s Stage and of course, Center court.
“These girls are infectiously enthusiastic, undeniably engaging, and are the vision of our “ATP Award of Excellence” winning event. Growing the image, presentation and awareness of the VolleyGirls is a priority for the ITC, as well as a wonderful opportunity for the entire tennis community to promote the excellence and elegance of the sport,” said Marlena Hall, Media & Marketing Manager of the Delray Beach ITC and coordinator of the Girls.
Be sure to look for the Girls throughout the month of February all over the Avenue. Got Facebook? MySpace? Bebo? Follow the VolleyGirls and the Delray Beach ITC tournament: Group: The VolleyGirls; AOL Instant Messenger: Yellow10sBall.
