BRYANS MAKE IT THREE

World No. 1 Doubles Duo Win 94th ATP Title

By STEVE DORSEY

Brothers Bob and Mike Bryan, the No. 1-ranked doubles team in the world, won their third title in Delray Beach and 94th overall Sunday afternoon at the Delray Beach Open.

The Bryans defeated Czech Frantisek Cermak and Russian Mikhail Elgin 6-2, 6-3 to claim their first ATP title of the year, with golf legend Jack Nicklaus watching in the stands. They also won in Delray Beach in 2009 and 2010.

“We never thought we’d get this high,” Mike Bryan said of the brothers’ all-time record career wins. “We’re feeling good.”

The Bryans were the No. 1 seed here and won their first round match in straight sets, reached the quarterfinals in a walkover and then beat the 21-year-old American team of Ryan Harrison and Jack Sock in the semifinal.

“We’re very happy to kick-start the year here in Delray,” Bob Bryan said of their first win this season, which denied Cermak and Elgin their first win as a team. “We’re starting to hit our stride.”
